Alice is a wonder. This beauty was surrendered, along with companion Jasper. Alice has adrenal disease. She has received two des implants in 2024 but her tail fur will not grow back. She is also on pred 2x/day. Due to these illnesses, she and Jasper will likely be lifers at NRFR.

About Us:
Nirvana Ridge Ferret Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The shelter is a 2,000 sq/ft facility, exclusively dedicated to providing care and support to homeless and injured ferrets. We are located in Brandy Station, Virginia. We also have foster homes in Fairfax, Richmond, Virginia Beach, Charlottesville, and in NC.
Each year, we take in 240-280 ferrets (owner surrendered, transferred from county/municipal animal shelters). We accept them unconditionally. The younger, healthy ferrets get adopted out, placed into forever, loving homes. The sick or older ferrets remain at the shelter to live out their lives with all their shelter buddies.
Caring for all these ferrets is a full-time job for several of us. We are all volunteers, no one is paid to perform these duties. Just keeping everyone fed and watered, cleaned, and rotating ferrets in/out of their cages, playpens is a monumental task that we perform each and every day. Then there’s medicines to be administered (as necessary), toe nails to be cut, ears to be cleaned, bathing due to incontinence, transports to the vet, and a ton of laundry to be done. Volunteers are welcomed and appreciated!
Visitors are always welcome, too!
The shelter is funded 98% by my personal funds. I am living my dream to shelter and care for otherwise unwanted animals. Not just ferrets, but all animals. Ferrets just happen to be my strongest addiction.

We can always use gift cards to TSC for the purchase of hardwood wood stove pellets that we use for litter pans. The shelter consumes 3 tons (3 full pallets) of wood pellets annually. The dirty/used pellets are composted on the farm.
