I would like to introduce you to Katie. Katie was a secret for a while with her brother Tucker who has since went to the rainbow bridge. Katie came to use 6 years ago, after a horrible hoarding case broke open when the SPCA in Montgomery County seized over 600++ animals from the property in which many were found dead. There were 16 ferrets in total. All 16 in a double ferret nation. 2 VERY injured, which one ended up losing a limb. We had gone out to the SPCA to help categorize the ferrets and get them all into groups where we can put them in ferret shelters across a few states, as 16 was a bit much for one shelter to take on. Katie and her brother Tucker ended up staying with me forever. Katie is an intact female ferret. She has been implanted to keep her out of season. She is unable to get surgery due to congestive heart failure. She also has pyoderma gangrenosum, which essentially makes her tail get wounds all over it, causing scabbing. It does NOT cause pain unless it is raw, which we prevent from happening with keeping it clean 6 times a day. She was and still is a pretty bad biter. She is a back yard breeder ferret. So health is questionable. She is an older lady now, as many years have gone by. She has NOT slowed down at all. She is still a spunky gal, and will take you head on. Calling her, "a bull in a China shop," is a compliment to how reckless she can actually get. Katie specifically loves crochet eggies, fish oil of the grizzly variety, and she's a sucker for a nice warm fuzzy blanket. You can donate directly to our vet for Katie to go towards her deslorin implant she gets every 6 months to keep her healthy and able to live life as long as possible. She eats totally ferret turkey, venison, lamb kibble. and Marshalls premium ferret food. She also does eat soupie
with stella and chewy either the duck, chicken or rabbit.
They also use, X-Large puppy pads, crumble paper news litter, cleaning supplies. Our kids all love rubber duckies, and crochet eggies, and Kong toys. We also can always use "Rainbow bridge blankets". These are small baby receiving blankets that we use for wrapping them in when we take them in to be helped to the bridge, or if they pass at the hospice, we will wrap their bodies in these rainbow bridge blankets to escort their remains to the vet, and once the blanket leaves our hands it gets passed on to the vet office to use on other patients who need that little extra love during the healing process. The blankets will continue to live on to care for many various animals.
**At this time due to the nature of our rescue, we can not accept used items. Most of the ferrets in our care are ill, or have sicknesses or on medication that lower their immune system leaving them susceptible to many things.**
